*Star Trek OC: So... she can be adapted to any verse :-)

Born in Mumbai, Amara was placed into foster care when she was seven years old, after her mother was sent to a Federation Penal Colony. A deeply troubled child, Amara resisted any foster family's attempts to help her adjust or care for her, and despite their good intentions, was always sent back to her case worker to be placed elsewhere. Amara managed to make her way through several different placements from the age of seven to eighteen. Because of her past, she has a hard time making connections with people, and does not appear to show any interest in making friends.

Amara was an extremely bright girl, and managed to secure a place at Starfleet Academy. However, due to her unstable childhood, her education was lacking in certain areas (particularly mathematics) and she struggles to keep up with the coursework. Amara also has a temper and a tendency to blow up, but she is working on learning how to control it. She has little confidence in herself and her abilities, and views herself as a habitual screw up. She firmly believes it is only a matter of time before she is thrown out of the Academy.
