So I decided it was time for her to have a better bio... I stink at writing bios so um... subject to change...

Background:

Born in Mumbai, Amara was placed in foster care when she was seven-years-old, after her mother was sent to a Federation Penal Colony. A deeply trouble child who had never attended a formal school she struggled to adjust to a “normal” life with her foster family, and resisted their attempts to help her. Amara went through a series of foster families and placements until she went to live with Eleanor and Gary Smith of Louisiana when she was ten-years-old. The Smiths kept Amara for three years and had taken steps to adopt the girl, even having her name legally changed, until a mysterious house fire killed Gary and critically injured Eleanor. Unable to keep the girl, Eleanor sent Amara back to foster care, where she continued to move from placement to placement until she was eighteen and legally became an adult.

Despite her difficult childhood, Amara was determined to become a pilot and attend Starfleet Academy. She was an extremely bright girl, but the instability in her childhood had left some gaps in her education that she struggled to overcome. Miraculously, she was accepted, but has a difficult time keeping up with the coursework. What she lacks in formal education she makes up for in her hard work and determination, and she continues to improve and somehow manages to not flunk out. However, despite everything she has accomplished she has little confidence in herself and her abilities. Amara views herself as a habitual screw up and feels like she fails more than she succeeds. Her low self-esteem makes her awkward in social situations at times, and she hates parties and crowds. She prefers to be alone, as she learned at a young age that people are unreliable.

Abilities:

Amara is an excellent pilot, despite her lousy record in the Academy simulator. She always does better with real situations than made-up scenarios. She is a fast learner when shown how to do things in real life, but has a difficult time when she is expected to learn things straight out of a textbook. Mathematics is not her strong suit as her educational background lacked certain basics she needed to learn. History is also a difficult subject for her as she tends to get dates and people confused, especially when she is expected to learn from a text. She is in good shape and excels in combat training, despite her stature, as she is a kinesthetic learner.

Amara is also an excellent cook, having been taught by one of her foster mothers as a means of keeping her out of trouble. She loves to bake and make meals for people, particularly spicy meals and pastries. She is a very giving person, but doesn’t like to get credit when she does things for people. Brownies and cakes often appear for people she cares about without any cards or notes explaining their origins. She finds a kitchen to be her safe place, and cooking and baking to be therapeutic. She claims it is the one thing that she can really do well.
