"Ow..." Amara landed hard on the concrete. She cursed the transporters for the less than graceful enterance for a moment until she realized this was not where she was supposed to be. She had been beaming over to a ship with the rest of the away team. This was clearly a planet. In fact, it looked like Earth. But not her Earth. Earth from hundreds of years ago.

She stood up slowly, looking around for the rest of the away team, but only say strange faces. A few people eyed her curiously, but most just hurried along their way, as if a random woman in a uniform skirt just randomly appeared out of no where any day.

"Where am I?" She wondered aloud. "And what the hell happened?

Peter was headed up from the subway and put his sunglasses on as soon as he came up into the sunlight, moving with the group of people in one big herd. They all looked the same in New York, just going to their destination, not acknowledging each other.

Most of them didn't even acknowledge the anomaly of the young woman in the uniform skirt who just materialized out of nowhere. It was a good bet that most of them didn't even notice. But Peter looked at her curiously as he walked closer. He wasn't in his own world deep enough that he didn't notice what was going on around him.

Pulling his sunglasses down a little to make sure he was actually seeing her, he started to approach. "Amara?" he asked curiously.

She stood, dusting off her uniform an whincing a little at the scratched up elbow and knees. The young man her approached her didn't seem familiar.... and yet he did. She couldn't place where she knew him from, and she studied him carefully.

"Yes...?" He seemed alright, so she stayed put and let him approach. "Do I know you?" She asked.

He laughed softly, almost more to himself, and gave her a friendly lopsided smile. "Um, wow.. No, you don't know me. Well, you don't know," he said, shaking his head. "You are Amara, right? My name is Peter Petrelli. I...had this dream that you'd be here."

"Yes... I-" She stopped mid-sentence, as if what he said just registered. "A dream?" She raised an eyebrow. "You know, if you didn't know my name I would accuse you of using a really bad pick-up line right now..." She had a thousand questions to ask this man, but couldn't think of where to start.

Peter laughed again, a little bit amused, nervous and surprise at the same time. "I'm not trying to pick you up.. I mean not that you're not attractive or anything," he said with a small smile. "No really, I had a dream you'd be here. You're.. Amara Smith, you're from the future. Aren't you?"

She frowned a little, still confused, and the man she was talking too was confusing her even more. He had some type of dream about her and here she is? How? Why? What the hell was going on?

"Yes... I suppose I am from the future... what year is it anyway? And what did you dream? Do you know how I got here?" She knew she was asking too many questions at once, but she wanted answers and she didn't want to wait and ask them one at a time.

"Um, I have no idea," he said, looking around and brushing his hair out of his face with one hand. "I mean.. I just had this dream I was going to meet you here, and I didn't think it was real or anything, but as soon as I saw you... yeah." He looked back at her. "Oh, um, it's 2006. September 15th actually. You're in New York."

"Damn... wish I did better in temporal mechanics." She muttered under the breath. Amara looked at Peter, he seemed nice enough, maybe he would help her. "I don't suppose you remember what I did next in your dream?"

Stops smiling and starts to frown a little. "Um.. I think that was just kinda it, we just met. Maybe we're supposed to meet though, maybe I'm supposed to help you or something."

She looked at her scrapped up knees. "Um... well maybe you can find me something to put on these scratches?" She then looked around, aware of how much her uniform was standing out. "I don't exactly blend in right now... and I don't have any money."

He looked down at her knees. "Oh yeah, sure. Um. Would it be too weird if I took you to my apartment?"

She smiled a little. "I don't think anything's weird under these circumstances. Lead the way, Mr. Petrelli."

"Yeah, this is pretty strange, like.. no offense or anything. Science-fiction or something," he said, starting to lead her through the crowd. "It's not far. I was just getting off work."

"Well... I was on a starship." She followed him. "What do you do?" She asked, praying he wasn't something weird like a pimp or a serial killer like on the old movies.

He looked over at her in surprise. "A starship, seriously? We get space travel in the future? That's really awesome."

Peter led her up to a building and held the door open for her. "Uh.. I'm a nurse actually. It's not as cool as a starship."

She smiled a little at the gesture. It was sweet. Something little that men in her time seemed to neglect. "But useful. I'm only a cadet."

"But still.. starship, that's pretty awesome. What are you going to do when you're not a cadet?" he asked, leading her to the elevator.

"Well... I'd like to be a pilot. Unfortunately I don't do so great in simulations... I didn't say I was a very good cadet... They had me doing field training and..." She shrugged a little. "Here I am."

"Yeah, here you are in 2006, New York city. Um, my gain, but.. kinda a big loss for your ship and stuff, and probably you since that's obviously your time." He pressed the elevator button. "I guess more of a bad thing than a good thing, sadly."

"Your gain?" She raised an eyebrow. "And not really a lose for them. I'm sort of a screw up." She admitted. "Though I wouldn't say it's all bad... it seems to be nice to meet you."

He smiled again. "It's nice to meet you too. I just mean, my gain.. meeting you. The girl out of my dreams. That's pretty amazing. But I mean, eventually you'll have to go back..."

"Except I don't know how to get back." She pointed out, looking around his apartment with mild interest. 21st century Earth.... her history instructors would love this. "So.... in your dream we just... randomly encountered each other? That's it?"

"Yeah.." He shut the door behind them when they walked into his apartment. "Then I woke up.. my alarm went off. I have lots of crazy dreams, I just didn't expect them to come true."

His apartment was mostly clean, a few things out of place, dishes to be washed, text books on the table, some clothes on the floor of the bedroom. It wasn't very big, but a decent size for an apartment in Manhattan for someone who made a little above minimum wage.

"Um, let me get some stuff for your knees," he said, tossing his bag next to the couch and walking into the bathroom, pulling open the medicine cabinet. "Are you hungry or thirsty or anything? Is there anything I can get for you?"

"Um... water would be nice... if you don't mind." She resisted the urge to start washing his dishes. She was a bit of a neat freak actually, and having everything neat and put away was a bit of a complusion of hers. There must be a reason for why she was here, and why he dreamed about her. She just couldn't for the life of her think of what that could be.

"Have you had dreams like that before?" She asked.

Peter came back and handed her a glass of water with a small smile. "If you have a seat, I'll do something about your knees."
